    Erik joined Cynosure in 2017 and was promoted to President in 2019.  With the acquisition of Cynosure by Clayton, Dubilier and Rice on December 30, 2019 Erik was appointed CEO.

    Prior to joining Cynosure Erik was a high performing Sales Leader with Hologic’s Breast & Skeletal Health Division delivering consistent growth and winning multiple Circle of Excellence awards.  Throughout Erik’s career he has demonstrated a history of building highly engaged and talented teams all while being a teacher, motivator and fierce competitor. Prior to joining Hologic in 2014, Erik was the US Commercialization Director at ImpediMed, Inc. where he focused US sales, strategy in oncology guidelines and patient advocacy. Before ImpediMed, Erik was a highly successful Sales Representative, Sales Manager, and a leader of the Marketing and Innovation advisory boards at Stryker Instruments where he was involved in cross divisional IDN strategy and new product launches in orthopedic cutting accessories. Erik has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Iowa State University where he was a 4 year letter winner and Captain of the football team.

    Richard Bankowski

    Vice President, Global Clinical Affairs

    Richard Bankowski joined Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc. in 2000, which was acquired by Cynosure, Inc. in 2013 and currently serves as Vice President of Global Clinical Affairs. He works with leading cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons worldwide on the clinical development, education and training of new technology. A sought-after lecturer, his experience extends across many of the major technologies associated with the medical aesthetic industry.
    For over 20 years he has been directly involved with research & development, clinical applications, sales & marketing and education & training of laser and pulsed-light systems. Prior to joining Palomar, Richard worked on the management team of Continuum Biomedical to pioneer the use of erbium lasers and advance the use of Q-switched lasers. Early in his career as a Sales & Clinical Specialist for HGM Lasers, his understanding of ophthalmic lasers and applications helped expand the market for krypton laser technology in the dermatology market for unwanted pigmented and vascular lesion treatment applications. Richard co-founded a private cosmetic laser dermatology clinic that developed and tested new energy-based technologies. He acted as co-director of the center for 15 years. He is an adjunct member of American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and a Fellow of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), serving on the Industry Advisory Councils of both societies. For the ASLMS, he has previously served on the Education & Standards, International Affairs, Finance and Communications Committees and currently serves on the Nominating Committee. He is also involved with the Strategic Planning session and other educational initiatives of the Society. Beginning at the 2014 ASLMS annual meeting, he served a three year term on the Board of Directors.

    James Boll

    VP, R&D

    James Boll joined Cynosure in 1993 and has held various positions from Program Manager, Director of New Product Development, Vice President of Engineering and currently Senior Vice President of New Product Development. His career began in 1983 working for Wellman Labs supporting research concentrated on laser-tissue interactions. Jim then went into industry to run government and academic laser development programs before transitioning back to medical laser development for Candela and Laserscope. Jim has consistently worked at the front lines interfacing between physicians and technical groups applying optical and radiofrequency sources along with their delivery systems to many different medical specialties. Jim has a Master’s of Engineering from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute and bachelor’s from Boston University, both in biomedical engineering.

    Senior VP - Engineering

    Eric joined Cynosure in 2010 as VP of Product Engineering. Eric started his career with Johnson & Johnson’s Codman Division developing neurosurgical equipment and instrumentation. He also ran Smith & Nephew’s Sports Medicine Capital R&D team developing disposable arthroscopic shaver blades, fluid management equipment and control systems. At Kopin Corporation, Eric led a Process Engineering team responsible for high volume production of GaAs Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors via metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. Eric earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from WPI.

    Vice President, Marketing

    Bill Fruhan joined Hologic in August 2015 as Vice President of Marketing for the GYN Surgical Solutions Division with more than 16 years of commercial experience in the life sciences field. In May 2017 Bill was promoted to Vice President Global Marketing for acquired division of Cynosure.

    Prior to joining Hologic, Bill served as the Vice President of Marketing at NxStage Medical where he was responsible for building the Marketing team and growing business unit revenue 16 percent within his first year. He also held leadership roles of increasing responsibility in Marketing, Sales and Analytics at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals where he created a new multi-channel marketing function to ensure patients and HCPs received the right message at the right time through their preferred communication media. Bill was also responsible for turning around a struggling sales region and hiring an analytics team that transformed a commercial organization towards data-driven decision making. At Boston Scientific, Bill held roles in Marketing – most notably helping to launch the Taxus drug-eluting stent.

    Bill has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

    VP, Global Services & Operations

    Jim joined Cynosure in 2004 as Director of Sales Administration. He was promoted to VP Global Services in 2010. Prior to Cynosure, Jim was Sr. Director of Service Operations for Tyco Healthcare.

    Having survived a late stage cancer, Jim is passionate about the healthcare industry and providing funding for compassionate care and treatments. Since his diagnosis, Jim has run over 9 marathons and done countless other fundraising activities, raising over $500,000 for cancer research.

    Jorge Pinedo

    Executive Vice President, International

    Jorge joined the Cynosure Leadership Team as the Executive Vice President, International in January 2020.  Jorge comes from Johnson & Johnson where he most recently led the Vison Care franchise as Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific.  He also held prior leadership roles at Hasbro, Bristol-Myers Squibb/Mead Johnson, and Johnson & Johnson Consumer.  Jorge’s strong and diverse healthcare background – leadership roles in consumer, retail and medical device – will be a tremendous asset to Cynosure’s International future. Jorge has a BS in Computer Science, and an MBA, both from the University of Miami.

    Andrea Schwab was promoted to Vice President of Sales in July of 2019 after an award winning career in the Cynosure sales organization. She joined the company as an Area Sales Manager in 2004 and demonstrated her will to win out of the gate by taking home 3 straight President’s Club awards, on top of being named Rookie of the Year in 2005, and Sales Rep of the Year in 2006. Andrea’s next role was Regional Sales Manager where she won Region of the Year twice and another impressive 3 President’s Club awards. In 2010 Andrea was promoted to Director of Sales where she more than doubled sales in the West winning 5 more Presidents Clubs, bringing her P Club total to 11, plus 3 Director of the Year awards. No one in the Medical Aesthetics industry has this much crystal!
    Prior to joining Cynosure Andrea held various leadership positions at DHL and Airborne Express.  She has a degree in business administration from Syracuse University and currently resides in California with her family.

    Maureen Tarca

    VP Human Resources

    Maureen is an accomplished Human Resource professional. She began her career in Talent Acquisition at Daniel Roberts, a well-recognized Boston placement firm.

    Maureen moved into Corporate Human Resources at Compucom in Dallas, Texas. Maureen joined this computer reseller as a member of the Compensation and Benefits Department, where she was involved with the organization’s redevelopment of its corporate structure. She managed an initiative that established companywide job performance measurements. In this capacity Maureen was involved in the design and creation of a career progression plan for the company’s IT professionals.

    In 1995, Maureen was recruited to join Excel Telecommunications in Dallas, where she was hired to create and manage a $1.7 million training grant and for creating and managing a $1 million corporate « Training University. »

    In 1998, Maureen moved into Human Resource consulting as Senior Management Consultant providing a wide range of strategic management consulting.

    In 2005, Maureen joined Cynosure to lead the Human Resources function. In her role Maureen was responsible for Human Resources worldwide. By partnering with Senior Leadership Maureen helped to build a world class HR organization. During her tenure Cynosure was recognized as one of Fortune’s 100 fastest-growing companies.

    In March 2017, Cynosure was purchased by Hologic. As the Vice President of Human Resources, Maureen continues to lead the Human Resource function for the Cynosure Division.​​​​​​​
